VALENTINE'S DAY CONFIDENCE.

Yesterday I posted some great ensembles for a night out on the town, namely on Feb. 14th. While a fun tulle skirt or a slinky silk camisole is great, there are four things that really boost my confidence and can turn a plain ensemble into an extraordinary one.

1. Killer pair of heels. An amazing pair of heels can be a total game changer. Throw on a pair and your legs are more elongated and you can strut your stuff.

2. Great shade of lipstick. The perfect shade of lipstick is like the unicorn of the beauty world. Elusive and (most of the time) imaginary. Putting on the perfect soft pink or deep red can pull an ensemble together and make it pop.

3. Beautiful handbag. Shoes and bags. Bags and shoes. Does it get any better? A beautiful handbag to show off is a great addition to any night out.

4. Flirty fragrance. The right fragrance can make or break a night. (I know, you're thinking make or BREAK?!). Finding that perfect, flirty fragrance that can be your signature scent, tops everything off.

VALENTINE'S DAY ENSEMBLES.

Valentine's Day is a lot like New Years Eve in my mind. Both require a fair amount of planning, yet always seem to be so anti-climatic.

Last year, T and I started a new Valentine's Day tradition. We order a huge Chinese take-out feast and hunker down with our two dogs on the couch with Netflix or On Demand (last year it was House of Cards!).

While my ensemble will consist mostly of pj pants and a t-shirt, it was fun thinking about a cute and flirty outfit I would wear if we were going out on the town that night. Whether it be to a fancier place or a more low key watering hole, these are sure to get your creative juices flowing.  Hope you enjoy and get some inspiration!

BOOTIES.

Inspiration for outfits can sometimes come when you least expect it. I am sometimes  always that girl that can be caught staring because your bag is that fab. This trait is one that embarrasses my boyfriend when we are out in public, but he puts up with me ;).

Last weekend I was standing in line at Starbucks getting my iced coffee fix (yes, I'm that crazy woman that drinks iced coffee in the dead of winter), and I saw a great outfit that I knew I wanted to replicate with my own special spin. It included grey booties, something I had been eyeing for most of November and December. This ensemble pushed me over the edge and I set out to find grey booties.

After searching high and low, I settled on greige (grey+beige) and found these beauties that are oh.so.comfortable. DOUBLE WIN!

Below are three outfits I put together that I will no doubt recreate in my own closet in the coming weeks.

reboot.

This blog has been a lot of stop and start, but this is it! I am vowing to post for the next 30 days, EVERY SINGLE DAY. It's exciting and a little scary, but like I said before "here I go"....

an interior look.

Home Goods is my happy place. I might go every Sunday to ogle the new goodies they got in that week. A large portion of my apartment is decorated by said goodies. When you’re a young professional and trying not to break the bank on décor for a rental, Home Goods can be your little secret weapon.

I’ve been putting together my dream house room by room recently. It has really shown me what my own design style is, so I was so excited to see this little quiz from Home Goods. It was pretty spot on and gave a name to what I have been seeing on my Pinterest (ha!).

As you can see below I got Classic with a touch of New Country. When looking at the inspiration photos, I think this describes me to a tee and is also sometimes evident in my style.

While perusing some of the other styles, I was drawn to Farm House Glam and think I have a touch of that as well—especially with how much I love mercury glass!

transition pieces. two ways.

These winter temperatures have me dreaming of sunshine, lounge chairs, and dining al fresco. While it is still a few weeks away (maybe months away), I have started ogling the new spring lines debuting in stores. Enter the ever important transition piece, the one that carries you from winter into the first days of spring. Think windy March days with hints of spring.

Not only is this striped dress great for transitioning from winter to spring (not to mention summer to fall), but it can also be dressed up or down. Raise your hand if you love these type of wardrobe staples. This girl has 3 hands in the air right now.

The more casual pairing of this dress is perfect for a weekend brunch with girlfriends. Put together, but also easy enough to throw on to mask the hangover you might have from the night before. By putting on an army field jacket, it breaks up the stripes a bit (the uber popular J. Crew version is also a great option). Coordinate a belt to cinch the waist with cognac booties and you are ready for mimosas.

To dress it up for a work event, pair it with this great navy blazer from J. Crew (I got this blazer from Santa and it has been in regular rotation). It hits just right and the fit is amazing. Throw on a scarf that complements the colors but mixes in another pattern and finish it off with a pair of nude heels. Voila you are polished and chic.
